The market has gotten tighter, people or spending less, finding work is harder to do. So what is a contractor (or any other small business) suppose to do. There are some things that all contractors should be working on right now, weather they are busy or not. If they are done consistently you will be getting more calls and giving more estimates very soon.

More public approval here! It is a pretty easy platform to jump on. You can also use this as another Social Media platform to interact on; conversations can flow, and you can gain more fans with marketing and networking guide used on a regular basis.

It is often said that only 30% (or 20%, or even 10%, depending who you talk to) of jobs are advertised. All the rest are filled by word-of-mouth: networking. There is no definitive study to prove this statistic and it may be well wide of reality, but there is no doubt that networking does work for some people.

Take a look at some of the outside factors that represent your personal brand, such as the company you work for or the company you keep. Who are your friends, alliances and partners? What networking groups do you belong to?

Don’t hang out with those you already know. If you stand to the side talking with your spouse (co-worker, friend, etc.) for the entire event, you didn’t network.

Contact person, phone number, email, websites, everything you need. And not only that, they’ll even import it into your contact management software defined networking, mailing list, or even submit friend requests to them on Facebook! I love it!

I don’t think your customer would appreciate a phone call three to five days after you have received their information. Even if they are still on the market for your product, you will not be off to a good start.
