There are hundreds – indeed thousands – of jobs advertised on the internet every day. But searching online should not be your only strategy for job hunting. Don’t discount the potential of networking.
I once worked with a guy when I was in the banking industry. He belonged to a few networking groups, and when he received a lead at one of his weekly meetings, he would come back to the office, pin the lead onto his calendar and let it sit there for three to five days.
If you feel uncomfortable with the thought of networking, then change the way you think about it. Most of us think that networking is an activity, an event to attend, or a “thing to do”, in order to market our business. Rather than think of it that way, look at networking as an attitude, or a skill to be developed. It’s something that can become a part of us every day, and can be shared with everyone we meet.
Join professional associations and groups that are connected to what you want to do, or to fields you’d like to explore. (and be active!) The more people get comfortable with you, the more you let them see you doing something well, the more likely they are to reach out on your behalf, or even hire you! Whether you are a volunteer or doing paid work, people are watching you and deciding how helpful they want to be. If you are always late, putting in minimal effort, gossiping, or missing commitments, how likely do you think people are to recommend you for anything?
Provides better software defined networking. You can use either local area networking or the Internet or wireless connections for the HP MFP. Simply use the company’s Web Jetadmin printer management software or its Jetdirect print servers.
If you want to grow your business by networking it is imperative that you network with: people who are your ideal clients, people who know your ideal clients, and/or people who do business with your ideal clients. It’s that simple. So before you sign up for your next networking event, ask yourself if it is a good fit for your business.
But before you start “selling” the key is to build relationships and this starts with getting to know, like and trust people. So try these business networking for students and market your business in a way that makes you feel comfortable.
Structure: How do you want to present your information? Do you have a compelling self-introduction? Do you have a prepared question for asking to follow-up? Do you start with your job description? Or do you want to talk about family and more personal items? Do you have a prepared introduction or description (so that you don’t fumble when asked)? Do you have an interesting or engaging answer to the (sometimes repetitive) questions you get asked?
The market may be getting tighter but you have a choice in getting more business. Customers will call because they will see you and your marketing. The actions listed above will not take long to learn and the rewards will be great. Make the effort and results will follow. The most important thing to do is to get started right now, doing nothing – changes nothing.
